Cow Shopping

Well John went cow shopping this morning but he is aready back cowless. His heart wants to buy more cows when he sees the green grass popping up at the ranch but his body is trying to tell him to quit. He had told me he wants to to to Pearsall, Texas to see about buying some cattle tomorrow. Who knows what mood he will be in by then. Anyway spring seems to be here. We are supposed to have 70 and 80 degree temps this week. The trees are budding out, some wild flowers are blooming but I'm worried about my lantana. Several years ago I dug small plants up at the ranch and planted them all in front of my house. Every year there have been a pretty row of orange and they grow so much I have to cut them back. Maybe I cut them too quick and maybe they froze or maybe they got too much rain as they are native and we don't usaully have so much rain. In a few days I will mix a batch of humming bird nectar and store it in the fridge. I usually see the first scout on March 15th so I want to be ready. The weeds are doing well, not only in my yard but everyone's. My brand spanking new hoe doesn't work by it's self. I always thought Weed and Feed meant kill the weeds and fertilize the grass. I applied it twice and now I think it means feed the weeds and kill the grass. Well I better get off here and enjoy the weather. Summer cannot be far behind.

Spring Fever hits everybody (and their wallet) differently. My dad buys tons of seeds and gardening supplies.

Phoenix is getting more rain today. We have hardly had many days in a row that heralded our change of season, which is highly unusual for Phoenix. It was 48 degrees at noon! I could hardly believe it when you said what your temp was in Texas. Hmm, these old cowmen never change. My Grandpa was out ranching when he reached the age of 87. Still riding his old mare out to his fields. I hope John might slow down a little sooner than that!

I like the barn photo. I even like the cow pictures, not the bull. I have a strong aversion to bulls. It is rainy and dreary here and supposed to stay that way till Friday.

Enjoy this springy weather. I saw some pretty flowers today at Lowe;s. Knew better than to buy any though because who would keep them living this year. I might, I said might get a few for the containers then again I might not. I did take a couple more pictures of spring flowers here this morning though. Helen

The barn is great!
Cowless! you should have gone and bid! YOu really think his body is sayng quit! Does he have another hobby besides you? If not, better help him buy a cow! hahahahaha!
To retire you need a hobby, somthing you love todo. Something like this lady in Texas who likes to observe and report. Whether it is strange arrangements of pilings, frogs or Turtles. Or just stuff from country roads, She seems to be happy!

I love, Love, LOVE the barn...and the tree shadows are cool...is this barn one on your ranch? Lucky you if it is...I miss my cattle. I had just a wee hobby farm...now isn't that a joke...if you have one cow, you might as well have a dozen or a hundred cause 'Ya gotta be there for them'...they cannot go on vacation with you...if the cattle do go down the road, find a hobby or pasttime for sure...you will have to start to travel with Jack and Sherry...sounds like Jack sometimes need direction from more than one good woman...LOL

God Bless You and John

Poor John. Hard for a cowboy to think of slowing down with spring in the air.
