Girl's Week-end In Fredricksburg, Texas

I never knew Fredricksburg was such a tourist town. If you win the lottery that would be a nice place to go. Shop after shop with everything you can imagine for sale.Lynda and I left on Thursday morning after having breakfast at Stage Stop here in our town. We went through Devine, past Hondo and on to the hill country. The secenic route with beautiful wild flowers everywhere. Mother Nature did her self proud this year. Took us a little longer so Leah already in Fredricksburg had to resort to touring the Dollar store until we arrived. After checking into the motel we headed out to the wildflower seed farm. Lots of cute yard ornaments and anything for outside. Leah enjoyed visiting the three cat residents there. They were so fat we decided they hadn't missed a meal. That night we went to the Rock Box theater to see a show of 60's music. Loud music, twirling lights and pretty costumes which they changed often. One man could imitate many different artists and the show was great. At the end they gave lights to every one in military or with relatives of military. They turned the lighs down and everyone held up their light while one of the ladies sang a patriotic song. That was very touching. Friday we drove on a winding narrow road to the Bat Cave. It was a neat place but the bats doesn't come out until dusk. We had a nice lunch at a local restaurant and then walked up and down the main drag looking in shops. At three we had to be at the herb farm for our massage. The spa was fixed up cute in an old house. We walked around the grounds and found a nice lady to talk to who told us all about the expansion going on. We met her little spoiled dog that was riding around in a child's wagon with her while she did work around the yards.
We got a kick out of looking in an old fashioned dime store with everything sold in by gone days from the game of jacks to rick rack. We decided we wouldn't wait too late for dinner as we had done that the night before and ended up only finding a pizza place open. We had German food in the Rathscheller (sp). Out of order here, hard to remember exactly what we did when as we crowded so much fun into two days. We went out to the show barns to the Peddler Market show. More temptations. Booth after booth, everything from hats to jewelry to cute signs and a little wine tasting. I think my girls acted a little silly after that. lol Leah bought me a cute shirt set in lavendar and white with roosters on them for Mother's Day and Lynda had brought me a new piece of luggage with the wheels no less. Yes I know everyone but me has them but I have them now. I bought them jewelry for their birthdays. Lynda's today and Leah's in May. Both nights we made hot chocolate and hot tea to take to our room to talk about everyone we know. No just kidding we talked about days gone by and what we did. Saturday morning we went to a little coffee shop we had seen. We had the largest taco I have ever seen and we were all glad we each only ordered one. Then we went out seperate way. Lynda headed for her home and Leah brought me home. We went another route home and saw more wild flowers after we were nearer San Antonio. It was a relaxing week-end and lots of fun reverting to silly girls. They were already talking about our next one. I'll have to let my legs and feet and all our pocketbooks recover. Okay Lurkin' Leah you can correct me. I know I missed something and have it all out of order.

Your weekend sounds like a blast! Everything sounds like so much fun but the bat cave sounds really wild. I had to chuckle at the girls being silly after the wine tasting ;)
I haven't thought of the game Jacks in years...I loved that as a child. I'm glad you had such a great time!

I think that sounds like a wonderful weekend, just the right time to see the wild flowers along with everything else. It's good to have daughters to get you up and going. I am eager to see a photo of you in that shirt! Yes, you will have to do it again before too long. It was fun reading about it, too.

I am not going to say anything nasty. You did great, and it sounds like you girls had a ball!
However, you are allowed a little silliness after drinking a gallon of wine, that is a lot of tasting!!!! LOL
I think it is wonderful that you guys were able to have the time together. It sounds like something Sherry would have loved, if she had girls. Rest up, we have missed you. and the country tales.
Sherry & Jack over in NC.

So what kind of German food did you eat...us Germans love a good plate of German Potato Salad with a big slab of ham or veal cutlets. Sounds like you had a wonderful time. I've missed your entries so am so happy to have you home again.
