Non Thanksgiving Turkeys

This is three of the seven white turkeys the farm house renters have adopted. I bet these turkeys will never grace a Thanksgiving table. The renters love their pets and they have lots of them. I will have to say these turkeys are not white after the rains. Their feathers are muddy and ugly. How do you bathe a turkey anyhow? Very carefully? When we went out to the ranch Saturday the wind was blowing so hard it made feeding the turtles diffcult for me and for them. It was hard for them to swim against the ripples in the water and when I threw the food toward the water it would blow back. We drove to the east end to look for Betsy (blind cow). She was okay but resting instead of grazing like usual. The mesquite is so thick and green we can never see her from the highway any longer. We drove all around the field of haygrazer. It is about ten or twelve inches tall now. We were surprised the field was not full of deer and hog tracks. They have enough green stuff in the brush so they don't feel its neccesary to come out into the open field to munch on the haygrazer YET. We have seen hogs eating on the field across the highway. When we finished we went by John's daughter's house. While we were there one of her goats started having a fit, siezure, what ever you want to call it. It was shaking all over and pawing the ground. They got it into the goat barn into the shade and gave it some sweet feed and water. They went to town but couldn't find any medicine on Saturday. It could have eaten something bad, maybe loco weed. Its all better now and expecting a kid soon.

I think it's adorable the renters are so fond of the turkeys! Loco weed? Really? That is very interesting.

Poor Betsy. I hope that goat and her kid will be ok. Bad thing to happen. Glad that she came out of it. Helen

Beautiful header. You have some pretty country. A bit stickery in places. I love the windmills.

Maybe that goats kid had his little hoof caught in her ribs and was twisting to get out. I know that sure made ME shake all over when my daughter did that to me. I literally pushed her heel out from between my ribs., little stinker. That was over 39 yrs. ago and I can Still feel it. Glad the Nanny is OK. The turkeys must have clipped wings or they surely would have flown the coop by now.
Tootles and have a great week Paula.

It's a little after six a.m. and I'm finally catching up on some blog time. I grabbed a BIG cup of coffee and came on here to catch up. Great posts!!! as usual. That cemetary with all the wild flowers is a really pretty shot! I just LOVE it when God paints!! Yesterday when I was going through the woods on the four wheeler and coming across the dike by my Mom's pond, there were four little mud turtles sunning themselves on a log ~ and I thought of you!!
Have a great week Paula ~ and fun feeding the turtles!!

I can't imagine a more unsatisfying pet than a turkey. Don't they have dog pounds around there somewhere?
