My daughter, Leah sent me this picture because I'm always complaining all our deer have disappeared. This picture was taken one block from their nice two story duplex rentals. Why would the deer want to live in this well populated area when they could come live at the ranch on over 300 acres? John says they know they are not as likely to get shot there. Out here everyone is looking for that big rack to mount and hang in their den. Lots of farmers and ranchers have given up farming or ranching and installed very tall fences to keep the deer in and then lease their land to city folks for hunting. They have to be very careful in driving from where they live to the duplexes for fear of hitting a deer.

great shot
Ya know what the old saying is, Paula, "the grass is always greener" or so they think. Personally, if I were a deer, I'd Much rather live by you.
Have a Great Weekend, Paula

I believe John is right; they don't get shot at in the city.
I love pictures of animals. I like this one. Things look so different to all humans. Some look and see a deer and see food on their table. Some look for the 'trophy'. Some live in fear of damage to their cars.
I love venison and also love to see the graceful deer navigating through the woods. It is an agile creature (Wish could jump like they do!) hahahahaha! Do deer get too old to jump?
Take care and have a great day!
From Tennessee the home of an Alamo hero. Old DAvy!
The deer may be smarter than they let on.
Can farmers just put up those high fences to keep the deer in without a permit in Texas??? and then lease their land out??? Up here there are deer farms but they are under a LOT of regulation by the Department of Natural Resources regarding how many deer you have, vaccinations, what kind of food they get ... blah blah blah.. you get the picture. You can't do anything up here without the DNR breathing down your neck.
I like to think the deer know they are less likely to get shot in a built up area ~ Ally x
I could never ever shoot a deer. I don't think I could shoot anything, but a deer with those brown eyes, never. You would have all of them pets. lol
I think that's great! They're less likely to be shot by some dimwit.

Honey, it's probably something as simple as more easy pickens! (Don't take it personal, they'll probably be back)
