Los Angeles Comparison

Since a couple of you said you didn't know there is a Los Angeles, Texas I thought I better assure you there is, but it doesn't compare with Los Angeles, California. It is no wonder you have never heard of it. I guess most people haven't. There is nothing there now except an intersection, and an old delapilated building, and Ruby's Lounge. Lots of large ranches in the area but I doubt the owners live on the ranches anymore. It was a town many years ago and was named Los Angeles to encourage comparison with climate enjoyed by the California city. I haven't been to Los Angeles, California so I'm just repeating what I've read. There was a post office. hotel, general store, cotton gin, and a brick school also used as a church. Cotton and grain were mostly the crops grown around there until The Great Depression made it hard for people to make a living so the town gradually disappeared as the people moved away. In the year 2000 the population was 20. From taking a look again I would say there isn't even that many now. Maybe the owner of Ruby's lounge and the one customer there on Christmas day? About 15 years ago John had a cousin who lived on one of the ranches. He lived in an old mobile home and burned pear ( stickers off cactus) for the rancher's cattle. One day the rancher came out to check his cattle and could tell they were hungry and had not been fed. He went to the cousin's trailer to see why. He found the trailer burned down with the cousin inside. From the investigation they surmised some illegals had been there. Of course they never knew for sure what happened or why. So from what I've heard about Los Angeles, California and what I know about Los Angeles, Texas there is no comparison except maybe the climate.

L.A., TX sounds good to me. I suppose a person could find lots of peace and quiet there. Be forewarned, however, if Jack should show up...he might cause a bit of excitement for ya'll. He's a magic man, ya know. Hahahaha!!!!!
Interesting tidbits, Paula.

I lived in Los Angeles, California for nearly thirty years and would never go back. Since I crave solitude and peace, I just might consider moving to Los Angeles, Texas. Maybe I could play the piano in Ruby's Lounge.....

Yikes ... I don't think I'd care for the Texas Los Angeles. Though if the climate is nice and warm that part sounds good.
Best,
Marty

I always get a kick out of some of the names of towns ~ and love hearing the history behind them. Our town of Park Falls was once called Muskelunge Falls (by the native Indians and fur trappers); but when the logging industry started up in the area ~ apparently where the paper mill now sits there was a pretty big water falls there in the river (before the dams went in). There were huge virgin pine trees also there and they said it had a park like setting... thus the name Park Falls came about.

If I had to choose between the Texas LA or the California LA ... it would be the Texas one ~ hands down ... I'm not big on big cities.

My friend is from Texas I will ask him has he
heard of LA, Tx. We had 4 friends from Texas that met us in Gatlinburg, Tn. for a Birthday Party. LA sounds like a fun place.
