Happy Valentine's Day to my blog friends and the two Lurkers I know I have.
We had a beautiful sunny day looking more like the south Texas winter we're used to. I think it is supposed to continue for several days. This afternoon we went to the ranch to look for a newborn calf. John was afraid something had happened to it as he could tell the mama had delivered several days ago and she hadn't brought it up with the herd. We found her heading for the back forty after searching a while. A shiny little black baby was following behind trying to keep up. We let them go on so as not to disturb the mama. we penned a poor mama and her calf to give them extra food. She didn't really want to go in the pen but as soon as she saw that big bale of hay she started eating. From there we went to the tank and I called the turtles up. They were a little slow and sluggish but some ate but none came out of the water. I think if all the warm days come up that the weather man is predicting they will get thawed out. It will be spring and summer before we know it and I will be begging for this cooler weather. Its nice to have company but its nice to get back to our routine too. They e-mailed it is -9 degrees there so I imagine they wish they were back here.
