A Writing Exercise After Reading Indigo's "Shattered Prose" About Dark

A dark night in my life: My husband had died recently, I hadn't been out of the house alone. A friend insisted I meet her to play bingo. After much prodding I agreed to meet her. Of course I didn't win at bingo so my purse was almost empty of money. As I drove into my drive-way I didn't see any thing unusual. I stepped from the car, unlocked the garage and turned to---- a man stepped from the dark walking toward me. I froze in my steps, I couldn't scream or move. I thought he was coming for me. When he saw my purse on the passenger seat he ran for it. He ran for the next street over to never be seen again. Think of the information you have in your purse or bag. Record it all as you never know when the dark of night will become darker then you imagined.

Yikes ... assuming this is a true story thank God it wasn't any 'darker.'
Best,

I was walking across an empty lot and had my purse under my arm. A young guy on a bike drove up beside me and ripped it away. It had $40 I needed for rent, and he just threw all the cards away I had to replace, but I never forgot the feeling of being assaulted. I wore a strapped purse around my waist for along time after that and also put any bills down in my sock. I have not had my purse snatched around here, but try never to carry cash. And use strap purses to make snatching more difficult. Not a good feeling to have your purse snatched, I agree. A college girl had hers snatched attached to her by straps and the guy was in a car and dragged her to her death here not long ago!

Thanks for sharing. A dark night indeed. Nothing makes you feel more vulnerable than something like this happening. Fear lies in the darkness, time and light keep us going. (Hugs)Indigo

I'm glad he just took the purse and left you alone. I know that had to be very scary. Take care, Sheila

I'm speechless.(and cought myself looking over my sholder)I'm so sorry this happened. It's probably just as well he didn't stick around. A friend/neighbor of mine just passed away last week, and while the family was attending his funeral someone broke in and cleaned them out. They had A-LOT! of collectables! Guns, coins, stamps,jewlery...gone! There's a special place in hell for people who would do a thing like that...don't you think?___=^..^=___Kittie

Scary! It's terrible not to feel safe in (or around) your own home.

So glad God protected you from that man and is protecting us continually. Ten thousand may fall to our right and a thousand to our left but it will not come nigh us. He is our shield and buckler and will cover us with his feathers.
