Low Mantience Woman

Sounds like a country song, doesn't it? Well just take me to the back forty and I'm happy. This morning the weather was cool and cloudy. After John did his chores with the cows and I had fed the turtles which came up eager to eat and crawled around my feet until I had to be careful not to step on them . I ask John to drive to the back forty to see what we could see. He said you may see a bird in the sky. He was wrong, we saw nine wild turkeys. Three toms and seven hens. They sure blend in with last year's hay grazer and ugly dry grass. They were pretty tame except one got frightened and flew over the fence. We circled the fence line and noticed the neighbor had done a lot of fence repair so we didn't have to watch so close for broken wire. He had even trimmed some of the old mesquite with a chain saw and chopped some of the cactus out of the fence line to do the repairs. This part of the property is where the wild hogs like to come in the most and they are getting a larger and larger area where they are digging deep. They like this area even when the hunters are not putting out corn to trap them because there is a grass that grows there called nut grass and they love to dig for the nut that grows on the roots. The cardinals were out in full force and there are baby calves everywhere kicking and running in the cool air.

Sounds like you had a great day. It was pretty nice here...just windy. And yep, I think that would make a wonderful title for a country song!

Paula that would make a good title for a song and you could be the one to write it, you are great at writing poems.Take care, Jean

I love the things you share here in your blog. I love everything about it. It reminds me of my Grandparents lifestyles. Both had farms. My Dads people in North Carolina and my Moms people here in the central valley of California. Reminds me of all of the fun and hard work that came with spending summers with them. I wouldn't change a thing, hard work and all!Take care and have a beautiful Sunday___=^..^=___Kittie

Just to read your post is relaxing today. I just said I am just going to relax today. Not sure it was a GOOD IDEA, I am sore all over but you know what? It is good to know that my body must still have a lot of life in it. That turtle whisperer is so neat.
