On The Road Again

We decided to hit the road again and go back to one of the lonely peaceful country cemetaries we walked through before. John wanted to get some dates off an uncle's tombstone. We had found the graves of two people buried there that John knew but didn't know  were buried at this cemetary. Since we were there they have put up a flag pole by the marker giving the name and who donated the land. The name is Starr and there are a lot of them buried there. There is still lots of room but no instructions how to contact someone if you wanted to use a plot. We are thinking they don't especially want people other then locals. The wind was blowing and the flag looked especially beautiful. I'm thinking it was raised for yesterday's holiday. There was another addition that made us laugh. Someone has put a very old out house at the back of the property. I'm talking very old. The door is off and there is no roof but it does face the brush. Of course I had to take time from reading tombstones to walk over and look inside. It has a nice comode seat over the hole. No, I didn't use it. You have to understand these old cemetaries are out in the boonies so when they have a funeral someone may be desperate enough to use one. We stayed there about an hour and not one vehicle passed the cemetary while we were there. Just wind and birds and quiet.

Okay, I like this one too. Unless one has been in need of the 'necessary room' they would not understand that 'any shelter' in a storm is wonderful relief.

I laugh because we went to 'Grams Cafe' for breakfast, and they have 'Necessary Rooms' instead of Rest rooms.

Cemetaries are always interesting.

I had to repost because half my comment was missing, probably trying to tell me I am too long winded.
From over here!! Sherry & jack

You know, I never thought of needing and outhouse at a cemetary but it makes perfect sense!

Sounds like a peaceful place to be put until we get called home. Helen

Sounds like a great convenience for a country cemetary

I enjoy walking through old cemeteries and reading the old headstones. I have never seen an out-house in one, however...Lol.

Walking through a cemetery can actually be relaxing and interesting. We used to have one right behind my house when I was a teenager. It was separated by a chain link fence. That didn't stop me :-)
