Cactus Looks Like A Battle Field

We've been having frost on the cars and roofs in the morning and that is cold for us. It warms up to the 60's in the afternoon. We went for a ride to the ranch this afternoon as I haven't been going since John has the big rent young man to carry the propane tank while John does the burning. John did get a longer hose so the young man told him he liked it because John hasn't been stepping on his toes or hitting him in the eye with the pear burner  like he did with the short hose. The winter weeds are very green and the cows eat some of those. The stock tank is full of water. I can tell by the boat. It is in the water and sometime when its dry it's out of the water. A whole flock of wild duck have taken up swimming rights since I have been absent. I got to see the latest calf on the block. It's black and white with just a tip of white on it's tail. John sold three large calves this morning at auction and he was pleased with the price. The gas people haven't started digging yet but they had said in February. The cows have knocked over a lot of the stakes with little red ribbon on them but I imagine they have dealt with cattle before. The new year is moving right along. I didn't even realize yesterday was still the holidays until I went to City Hall to pay my water bill and to the post office to mail some calendars to John's sisters in Alaska. Nice cowboy calendars, cuter then the darn moose calendars they send to us. Meese are my least favorite animals and so are mooses. I always have to stop and think what is plural for moose. lol Anyway I don't like any of them.

glad the pear burning is going well (or at least better!) we got to about 55 here today but it was a hard freeze overnight, too. :)

Always a riot coming here, never knowing what to expect. One thing, it won't be boring!

Hi Paula, I am glad the holidays are finally over. I enjoy the days, but I am always glad to get back to normal.

We saw several moose in Yellowstone, one up close. It was such a huge animal, much larger then I had visualized. I guess you have seen them. They are not my favorite either..lol.

Those temps in the 60's sound nice and comfortable to me. It's 15 degrees here tonight. What can you do about the flock of wild ducks? Let nature take it's course. MOOSE or MEESE are HUGE creatures. One once charged our car when we were in New England driving late at night. Scary moment. May the new year bless you with joy and good health. take care.

Yep, went to the bank yesterday and it was locked up tighter than a jug. I've never seen a moose in the flesh but I've never thought they were very good looking animals. I'm glad John has some help with the pear burning.

Glad that your DH has some good help burning now so you don't have to help him. I bet the ducks are fun to watch!

Glad to hear the boat is back in the water and the blades of grass are green again. It was so dry by you, the moisture has got to be a blessing. My sis used to live in Alaska and she said the moose would take up residence in the lawn, ruin the gardens in one bite, lick the windows, and run you over if you weren't careful...I understand the dislike, however, they do make a pretty good steak.

I still get sticker shock when I replace things I've had for a while. I'd sure like to try out one of those $40 hammers, though.

I still have the Craftsman hammer that I bought when I was 22 years old. It's a bit worn but then again, so am I.
