Country Chores

When you think of coutry chores you may think of feeding the cattle or the chickens and all that goes with it. There is bookwork to keep up with as with any other occupation. John is inclined to let his slide and things expire no matter how much I prod him. He finally went to the court house to re-register his brand. He has a simple JO. Not connected as a lot of brands have their letters connected. If the letters are not connedted they are inclined to come out clearer on the cow's hide. John doesn't brand his cattle any longer but wants to keep his brand on file. I'm glad he doesn't brand his cows. I have watched this process but I feel sorry for the cow. It probably doesn't hurt them that much with their tough hide but just the thought. He needed to re-register his ag exempt with the state comtroller's office. He had let that expire and with the government cut-backs it probably isn't worth the trouble we went to but its done after a lot of calls and a trip to San Antonio. Finding where the office moved to took more time then the actual process. We were number 29 but they moved people through fast and the clerk found his info. still in the computer so he has a reciept to use until his card arrives in the mail. It was an enjoyable day. Everyone we ask directions of were helpful and polite and two young people even opened doors for us. On the way home there was icing on the cake. It started raining and the closer we got to home the more it rained and there is more in the forcast.

I'm starting to get concerned about the lack of any precipitation here. I sure hope we're not in for a dry summer!

Ahh, yes, the paper work. Now that, I must admit, boys are slow on the uptake.

Nice to be treated with respect having someone opening the doors for you.

Rain is good.

Rain, such a glorious sound when there has been none...or not enough. Have a great week, Sheila

The old sayin; "The job's not through till the paperwork is done." is still true. I have to admit that I'm just like John, I hate the paperwork and keeping up with the formalities. Great post, Paula...I sure missed being able to get online and keep up with all the entries. Maybe I can get caught up before long.
