Do You Know What A Whiffletree Is?

Well yes it is like a singletree. The pivo- ted swinging bar to which the traces of a harness are fastened. A whiffletree here is probably our best restaurant and we had a good free meal there at lunch. I don't know where all these people get my name from. The invitation said not to bring our billfold as they were not selling anything. I didn't fall off the turnip truck yesterday but I'll listen to a spiel for a free meal, a good meal too. Sirloin steak to be exact. They were showing something to put in your attic to cut your heating and cooling bill. John liked the idea until his son put the ky-e-tus on that. Everyone there was a senior citizen and one was a former customer so they said. Last time we went to one of these seminars and free meal it was about fire prevention. They were selling fire prevention equipment such as smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors and fire extinguishers. These two old senior citizens listened very carefully and then went to Wal*Mart and bought everything they suggested (except a bat to put by the bed to knock the window out) and at a very lower price plus we had a good free meal while we listened. They shouldn't invite us and mark my name off that list. Don't ya think?

a Whiffletree I have not heard of, until now, but a singletree I know. Dad used one with the team he worked in the woods and Grandpa too, until he couldn't anymore. You bet, go for that free meal, specially a free steak meal...heck, so what if you had to listen to their schpeel...they gotta make a buck too, I reckon, off those not as schmart as you, John and his son.

Enjoy the meal !!! I have heard of a "Whippletree", I managed to break one or 2 and Gramp Wood would give me the 2 metal ends off the broken one, a piece of Oak and the wood aze and I had the pleasure of "whittling" the replacement. I learned to start the team of horses slowly rather that a "Jump Start !! LOL !!!

I know about singletrees and doubletrees but a whiffletree is a new one on me. Y'all were smart not to buy a bat...heck, John just bought a brand new hammer...that'll do! Great post, Paula!

A whiffletree is new to me. Sounds like a scam to me. Glad you got a good free meal out of it.

I'd take the free meal any day.
