Just a country girl kicking around the dirt roads taking pictures of trees, gates, animals. cactus, and anything else that strikes my un-fancy mind. You are welcome to take a look and come back if you like.

I Won Last Night
A bird kept me awake for two nights in a row. Of course it didn't start it's tweeting until I was sound asleep. It was in the Arizona Ash tree right outside my bedroom window. Why the middle of the night? Is it mating season? Was it fussing at the cat? It would sing happily and loudly and then change it's tune for a few seconds to a drilling sound and then without missing a beat go right back to twittering. I stand to be corrected but my Massage Therapist says that sounds like a Mockingbird. I took half a pill at bedtime so no bird sounds penetrated my brainwaves last night. I wish I knew where that bird is right now I would disturb it's rest.

yup! definitely mockingbird. during mating season they'll sick all night long. :)
Bless your heart! We had this happen while camping one year. I love birds but not in the middle of the night.
hahahahahahahah turn about is fair play, yep you should find the perch and make some noise.
Glad you won though. Sleepless is frustrating!!!
Definitely a Mockingbird. I've noticed they will sing here at night if there is a full moon or almost full. But we have no outside lights on so most of the time they are quiet, thank goodness! Good Luck...you could put up one of those huge plastic owls or a Huge plastic snake and he might just leave the area, might!
We used to have the same problem when I was a kid in California. The tree by our house had birds that perpetually sang, chattered, and kept us awake all night. My father used to go outside and shake the tree until the birds left. Eventually they'd return.
I do think they were mockingbirds.
Yes it is the mating call Paula, but I think I would rather listen to the Mockingbird than Cats screaming all night long, which I used to get at the last home I lived in LOL!! Have a great Friday.Take Care God bless Kath xx
Birds can be noisy, for sure... even though their sweet melody is welcome on most days. Glad you got some sleep.
I get birds in the morning - but it would drive me crazy at night. sandie
The birds were crazy and loud here too and then today I found out it's the super moon weekend that's making them crazy. For several years in a row we had one would sing all night in the big cedar tree right outside our kitchen. Thank God it was the kitchen. Fascinating to listen too when you are awake...but I wouldn't want to deal with it while trying to fall asleep. - Barbara

Eler Beth and I sat outside talking past midnight one day last week, and we were amazed at how many birds there were singing at that time of night. Two of them were definitely mockingbirds, so that's probably what it was.
