Smelling A Rat

We had to rush out to the ranch to meet the landlord so I didn't even have time to get turtle food. The landlord and his daughter were already out there instead of calling first as he said he would. I think they wanted to sniff things out first without John there and that is their priviledge. He also didn't bring the new contract as he said he would. He said he decided it is too early and the old one isn't up for a few months yet. Humm me thinks daughter is looking after her interest but I guess I would too. I know I would. Oh well if John doesn't get it, it is God's will. Just worries me that he will sit in the house and watch TV too much. Yes he could lease another but this one is perfect to drive to at his age and health plus he knows it like the back of his hand since he was born on a portion of the land. After they left we drove south on some country roads to check out where the gas line is going there and what has been accomplished. Pipe layed out on some right-of-ways and not at others. Where they have gaps that are under electric wires they have colorful banners flapping in the breeze (hot I might add) to warn the drivers with high equipment not to connect with the wires. Now we just have to see them dig the trenches, weld the pipes, lower them into the trenches and keep the nosy cows from breaking a leg.

Hoping John does get this since it means alot to him. if it's meant to be, it will be. Glad they marked those wires with colorful banners to warn the drivers. It could be deadly. take care.

I imagine it is different since this is farming land, but here in Maryland after the 1st year lease is up, it automatically goes month-to-month. If I were in your shoes, that would not be good enough because of how the land is being used. I hope they'll bring the contract to you all soon so it will illeviate any worry. God Bless!

Oh I do hope it all works out for John!

I am sure the leases are very important to John and you too. Some folks fit into the 'do nothing retirement', others (most) need something to do. Twould be great if everyone loved miniature golf, swimming or reading.

I know for your part, you would miss the turtles and cows, but you are an 'adapter' you will find something else to feed and care for. ALSO probably a lot more country roads where mysteries lie! LOL
