It was a beautiful short sleeve sunny day today in south Texas. One of the new bulls walks among the cows making a deep guteral sound. I wonder what will happen when the big bull gets enough of his showing off. The only ones who didn't know the cold weather has gone was the turtles. Only one peeped it's head above the water when I called. It swam almost across the stock tank and I thought it was coming to eat. Instead when it got almost to me it sunk into the water never to be seen again. While I was calling to it I heard a noise to my right. A roadrunner came out of the brush. It was making a sound but it wasn't Beep Beep like in the cartoons. The winter weeds are green from the rain already and the tank is full of water. All nine baby calves are accounted for and everyone is happy at the ranch until another cold spell hits.
Just a country girl kicking around the dirt roads taking pictures of trees, gates, animals. cactus, and anything else that strikes my un-fancy mind. You are welcome to take a look and come back if you like.

So are you saying is it spring there?
so why exactly did john want to add 2 more new bulls if the old one still is on the job? hope it won't be a fierce battle!
I honestly thought the Roadrunner was a joke until I saw a couple in the Big Bend country. I love your cows and names on the side board, I have been meaning to say that but just forgot.
Glad the calves are accounted for.
Sending (((HUGS))) across the gulf.
In answer to TexWisGirl's question--- John usually has two bulls on this place. Big Boy will be sold at auction as soon as the young bulls are old enough to work. The two young ones will come up with a pecking order. In fact I think they already have.
