Is There A Doctor In The House?

Yes there is, unless of course he is in the beer joint. Over the years I have heard bits and pieces about John's large family but this morning it kind of all came together with him saying his large family is dwindling down with the death recently of his last brother. Kind of makes him sad to be the only surviving brother along with five or six sisters. There were 13 in all counting the sister who was born at sun up and died at sun down, crying all day long. Back then they didn't know the things they know now and then the family hometown doctor could have been in the beer joint where he could be found if not in his tiny office over the bank. All his Mom's children were born at home with the doctor coming out except the last one who was born at the hospital since the small town doctor had passed away. She thought that was a pretty easy way of having a baby and wished she could have done that with some of the rest. Some of his siblings died too young from reasons that shouldn't have been but most who are left have been very successful after coming from a very poor family from country and small town living.

I am sorry for the lost of John's brother too. It is hard to lose your brother - no matter how many you have. Very interesting story - so different then from today...

As we age it is disheartening to see your family dwindle. And yes things are so much better today with the medical advancements. Some of those doctors were pretty smart, even if they were 'Out of the Office' a lot.

As always an interesting entry. Thanks...
Shirl and I look at each other and say, you and me babe. That is all that is left. Sherry and two brothers are left on her side.

I've heard people say over & over that statistically speaking, people born poor stay poor. I have not found that to be the case. Most of the very successful people I know started with families who had nothing but a good work ethic.

It's never easy and my heart goes out to John for his loss. My prayer is that his brother had a good life. I like to think another star shines above. I lost my sister next oldest from me, and it still tears my heart. She was very sick so her passing was a blessing in disguise, I suppose.
Hold each other tight and God's peace be with you both.
Thinking of you

That sounds a lot like our family. I know how he feels. It is hard to watch the siblings go and of course my luck. I am still here, alone except for my kids, grandkids and great grandkids. I feel lonely at times, for my family.
