Nothing Like The Texas Hill Country

We spent part of the week-end around Lake Travis. It's hard to believe anyplace so beautiful can be so close to this area which tends to be not the most beautiful area in Texas. Traffic was bumper to bumper so that part wasn't fun. We drove curved winding narrow roads where the wild life play. It was nice to have Leah and Randy for guides and riding in his big comfortable truck which we could see out of well. The scenery is beautiful in spite of the water level at Lake Travis being so very low. It's sad for the people who have spent lots of money on beautiful houses or condos on the water and there is no water at their back door any longer. It was odd to see cement steps that used to go down to the water and the water is sooo far away now. Some added long metal steps to reach the water and now they no longer reach either. People must be heart sick to have sunk their money into water front property and now no water. We saw wild flowers, pretty birds, and wild life. It was the perfect outing for Easter. They are fortunate to live in a nice condo here while their pretty new house is being built in another community. We ate a fried chicken supper on the patio looking into the cedar with birds entertaining us.
