We received the news late yesterday that one of the farmer/ ranchers in our county was killed in a truck wreck. Seems he was driving off a spur onto the farm to market road we travel on to the ranch several times a week. A large oil field truck hit him and he was killed instantly. Lots of black marks from the truck's brakes even though he had the right of way. Seems the rancher didn't stop at the stop sign. He had recently had heart surgery and the news is he was having some difficulty. Lots of maybes here. He could have blacked out or been confused, or didn't see the truck. However it happened it is sad. He was well known and well liked. At one time he traveled the rodeo circuit and met his wife there. They moved to our county where he grew up. Little by little they bought more property and became a large business in ranching and farming peanuts. They had two children who are grown now. I always thought it was cute they named their daughter Pepper and the son had a different name too which I can't remember right now. Rest in peace Joe.Just a country girl kicking around the dirt roads taking pictures of trees, gates, animals. cactus, and anything else that strikes my un-fancy mind. You are welcome to take a look and come back if you like.

i am sorry - especially after all he and his family probably went through for his heart surgery and had hopes all would be okay.
I am so sorry - rest in peace for Joe and his family and for you too - his friend. sandie
So sad about your friend. May he rest in peace.
Always sad to lose a neighbor. Old folks just never know, do we? Even with a Large neighborhood like you have I am sure you felt close.
