The Early Bird Gets The Worm,

and the brave turtle gets the bread. Brave enough to come out of the water, this turtle got most of the bread. He/she sure needs a bath to show off the pretty design on it's shell. Josie, the little blind calf is doing well and follows her mama every step she takes. This morning I told John I bet Josie wishes her mom would just lay down a while and stop walking. The weather felt sooo good this morning with the windows down driving around the ranch. So different from a few days ago of triple digits. I thought we would see more wild animals with the cool air but they must have been sleeping-in. We saw two big egrets at the stock tank and one ground squirrel in the lane to the back forty.

you've got our cooler temps and now we're heating back into the 90s for the week. but that's okay. :)

Maybe Josie has learned if she looses her mama it would be hard to find her. Smart girl.

I would love to see a picture of an egret. They are beautiful creatures, to be sure.

We're very hot and humid here in MN. but not triple digits.

The turtle is so cute and I'm so glad about Josie!

Isn't this weather wonderful???!!! We have had rain 4 days in a row now....and we are NOT wishing it would stop! The temps are pure HEAVEN for this time of year.

Very cute little hungry turtle...and so glad to hear that Josie's mom is making Josie exercise! That's good for that baby!

so if Brave, the turtle were clean, what is her marking? I have a pretty good field guide for reptiles and would love to know what you have been feeding. Always glad to get a Josie update. Sounds like she's doing well.

You encourage the turtles and I'm chasing them away. At least you have nice turtles ~ my snapping turtles around here have bad tempers and are nasty little critters. Happy to hear that Josie is still hanging in there. You have to wonder though what it'll be like as life goes on for her and she develops her independence. I hope the rest of the herd never turn on her and cause her harm.

So what is the long term prognosis of Josie when her mama is gone? Kind of worried about her.

I worry about Josie to. Do you think you will have to eventually, do something different at some time? I am like Jack and Sherry, it is always interesting to hear about life on the ranch.

Glad it's finally cooled down a little bit. Seems like this year it's cooler in Florida than everywhere else for a change! Hope you are feeling well and doing ok on those steroids.
