Sometime It Doesn't Pay To Be Nice

While John was feeding the cows this afternoon I checked behind a cactus plant where I left some Blueberries for the little cottontail rabbit. Nothing left but the plastic container with a rock to hold it down in the wind. I've seen the rabbit eating pear apples off the cactus  but there wasn't any close to the ground so I decided to pick the three dark purple one up high and put them in the container for the little rabbit to find. OUCH! When will I learn to use gloves no matter what I am doing near cacti? They are light tiny soft thorns which blend in with my light skin. I don't know I have them in my fingers until I touch something and it hurts. I'm pick, pick, picking with my fingernails trying to remove them. When I got home I use my glasses, a magnifing glass, and a bright light and pick, pick, pick with the tweezers. It seems I got most of them out but will probably find some for a few days yet. I hope that little rabbit enjoys those pear apples.

Try using a stickier tape on them. We don't have cacti where I am from, but we have raspberry and blackberry brush and they have the fine hairy thorns that you can't see. I usually take duct tape and roll my fingers across it and it seems to work well. It's worth a shot anyway! I too hope the little bunny enjoys it's treat.

That is a bummer having those prickly hair-like thorns. Glad you got most of them out.

What an angel you are....to brave the cactus thorns for a bunny to be able to eat...and to THINK to put a rock in the container so it won't blow away! Goodness....if I come back as an animal, I hope you will be my tender! You are a sweetheart!

Oh, I think it was worth it, just knowing the rabbit will have a treat!

And I thought Texans knew better!!! Sorry about that but I got stuck by many when ignorantly trying to get a picture of hugging one without touching, I couldn't do it. (naturally) Ain't nice to temp mother nature and her STUFF!

Ugh, I feel your pain. Good luck on getting them all out. The duct tape works pretty good at times.

Ouch! Hope they are all out. And I hope that bunny appreciates all the hard work you did.
