Saying "Howdy" To The Neighbors

I'm glad we stopped the truck, got out and walked over to the fence to introduce ourselves to the neighbors. We've must have made a bad impression as we haven't seen them since. We can't drive back there to the back forty now because of the nice slow soaking rains we had. Before it rained we did happen to be back there when the new owner of the property in the back came by on a four wheeler with his dogs. It was nice to meet him, a personable man. We didn't bring up the deer proof fence he built to keep the deer and hogs in his property. I don't like them, I think the wild life should be able to roam the way God intended. Since it isn't my property it isn't any of my business though. We can only get to the house to check the water and to the pens so I can't feed the turtles unless I want to wade in the mud. I'm sure the turtles are fine since the  stock tank is over flowing. I'm leaving pellets for the rabbit even though I haven't seen him/her for several days. Something is eating them and I mean every pellet. The cows are off grazing every day and completely ignore us. The grass is green and beautiful until the frost arrives.

Good report, the rain is good. We have had threats here but only a brief mist. Glad the neighbor is personable, most folk are nice. Like the donkey he seems nice too!

Love from North Carolina for a few more days....

i am happy to say, we've had 4 inches of rain over the last 4 days. some soaking, some harder to finally get some run-off. our pond came up a few inches but we could stand 2 to 3 more feet before it would be full - and much more to be 'overflowing'. but i'll take it.
