Just a country girl kicking around the dirt roads taking pictures of trees, gates, animals. cactus, and anything else that strikes my un-fancy mind. You are welcome to take a look and come back if you like.

A Saga About An Old Fashioned Thingy
Jack at Shipslog gives me fodder for my blog often. Today he wrote about how hard it is to shop now days with so many choices of things. Speaking of shampoo sent this memory to me. When I was a little girl my mama knew a young lady who was going to beauty school in San Antonio. Mama felt safe to leave me at the school to get a permanent wave in my very straight hair while she shopped in downtown San Antonio. It was quite scary the way they hook your hair up to this machine. You always had the feeling if the building caught fire everyone would run out leaving you there firmly hooked up by your hair. The operators finally came to the conclusion my hair was not going to take the permanent wave. Being a school they were interested in why, so they took me in a room with some people and begin questioning me about what my mama used on my hair. A little country girl got very upset and told them SOAP JUST PLAIN SOAP with tears rolling down my face. I guess they decided that wasn't going to look real good when my mama came back so they were trying to get me to stop crying. The young lady my mama knew even went out to buy me an ice cream cone. My mama came back to find me with big tears dripping down on my ice cream. It was many years before I tried a permanent wave again and it did take.

Oh bless your little country heart!
Oh poor baby! I'd have been upset too!
The traumas of childhood...and adults being so stupid at times....you were having a helacious day of it all, and they 'probed' you with stupid questions.
Happy Thanksgiving to you since I'm not gonna be online next week!!! Hope it's safe, happy, and healthy!
