Have You Ever Used A Whiffletree?
No? I haven't either. I had to look it up in the dictionary. The pivoted swinging bar to which the traces of a harness are fastened. Here in our town Whiffletree is a restaurant and we are going there this afternoon to John's 60th class reunion. It's special that they invite him as he did not graduate with them. Actually it's his class 60th but not his. John comes from large family and felt the need to quit school to go to work to help support his sisters and brothers so he missed out on playing football and all the social events that goes with high school. He regrets missing out on those things but has been as successful as his classmates without the proper schooling. John was given his first orphan Jersey calf at the age of twelve. He raised it and was hooked on cows. The thirty he has now are a small herd compared to what he has owned in the past. He was quite a big peanut farmer and later started investing in rent property. It will be a small get-together with lots of memories shared. A small country town class with some gone on and some won't show up. Last year there were only six present but it is fun for the ones that care to keep in contact once a year.
