Food Notes

I guess I've been a chocoholic since first taste but the last few weeks I've been trying to cut back on the sugar. I read dark chocolate is good for you, with restraint of course. I found dark chocolate bars and then happened upon the ones with almonds. I can live with this. No more driving to Dairy Queen to buy a blizzard or banana split. Walmart started hiding the dark chocolate bars with almonds from me. I have to thumb through three rows of bars to find one or two with the almonds in the back or in the middle. What is with ordering a bowl of soup or a salad and they give you one cracker? To me that is an insult and I'm not even that big of an eater. So today I took my own crackers. Had plenty of crackers with my soup. I know I could ask for more, but I don't want to have to ask for more. I had a friend who loved fresh garden grown onions so when we ate out she carried her own onions in her purse. When I lived alone once a man friend invited me to a local cafĂ© for supper. When our food came he ask for Tabasco Sauce. The waitress said they didn't have any. He left me in the booth eating with his food getting cold on the table and he walked a half a block to a store to buy a bottle of Tabasco Sauce. I've often wondered what he would have done had the store not had Tabasco Sauce. Maybe I would have had to call a cab. How do hog farmers grow those hogs with the lean strips that just fit in the little package windows. You think you're buying a good package of bacon with lots of lean. When you open it the only lean is in the little window, the rest is pure fat. What do you have to say about food today?

Smiled about the tabasco sauce. My husband can not be without his. I like parmesan cheese on my eggs and one of the restaurants we go to does not have it, so I bring my own. SERIOUSLY.

Yes I see that little thread on my header picture. It doesn't show on the picture. Maybe my printer needs cleaning and a lot of other things too.

I am with you. ONE CRACKER? I hate to ask for something that is OBVIOUS!

I had to laugh at the strip of lean. Seems that is the case most of the time. We are a nation driven by 'appearance'. Ever get a hamburger that looks like the picture one on the window? Me neither. LOL

Sherry eats dark chocolate from WalMart also, she skips the Almonds, If I am eating chocolate, gimme milk chocolate like God made it in the Hershey's bar.hahahaha

Food has gone up. Meats especially.I have not had bacon for so long I have forgotten how it tastes. I have waited on customers that would have probably done the same thing with Tabasco Sauce. When I worked the breakfast crowd I had one man that just slathered his scrambled eggs in it.

WEll, first off, talking about food...you now have me smelling the wonderful aroma of bacon cooking on the stove. "Bud? Let's go out for breakfast at I-hop?"

I too love the dark chocolate with almonds. It's the saturated fat content that scares me from eating it too much. The chocolate may be good for me with cutting the bad cholesterol, but the fats are the bad kind. "Damned if you do, damned if you don't". I choose "Do".

What irks me is serving sized on the nutrition label. One question comes to mind....a CUP of milk? I've never consumed a cup...more like a GLASS of milk...at least 12 oz. But most often more. Fat free of course. LOL

Yep, it's the serving sizes that gets me all riled. One cookie? P-shaw!!!

I wouldn't walk a step for Tabasco sauce - but yes to the dark chocolate with almonds! You are a girl after my own heart.

I tease a friend at work that would she like to have some food with her tabasco sauce because it seems she loads up on that stuff.
