Odd Barn

On one of our country road rides we passed this odd barn with this little built-on, on top. Have you ever seen one like this and if you have do you know what it is used for? Do you think someone slept there at one time? I thought someone may hunt from there like a deer blind. There are all kinds of deer blinds here in south Texas. I'm curious, tell me what you think it was used for.

I have no idea, would be a great look-out if you were making shine in that barn. :-)

You're right, I didn't think about that.

Looks curious enough alright. Seems to me we have a few of these in the southern part of WI, not up here by us tho. Maybe they kept cattle cool in the bottom, and the dove cool up top...foolish guess, I guess. Looks like a look-out fort to me, for lookin' out. lol

Actually, yes! LOL. My neighbor is the Sheriff for our County. When we first drove back through the woods and came up on his place it is constructed exactly the same. Except in their structure it is larger and is their home. A house on top of a barn. I asked the husband why he would build it that way and it is anybody's guess. It does give him a rather beautiful view though....I may have to go ask him now and get back with you, lol.

Maybe it was used for sleeping...or a lookout for illegals? Who knows. But it truly is a curious thing.

Interesting. I have never seen a barn like that in my life. Maybe someone lived there :)

I vote for a comfortable deer blind... You wouldn't have to count spiders or what ever while there, you could nap.(as long as someone stgayed awake to view the area.) hahahaha

i really thought sleeping quarters. looks like sliding glass doors?

my former farrier lives above a horse barn in a small apartment. not quite this small, i'd imagine. :)

I thought like you and Jack, maybe a deer blind. Could be a tree house for the kids, minus the tree...ha. Take care, Sheila

Place for the husband to stay when the wife was mad at him.

To me it also looks like a place to sleep in. I would have loved this as a little girl, especially if there were horses around - I would want to sleep in there all the time :)

We have been having rain. Hope it does not dry up. My guess is it was a hay mowe. Or a place where cousins could throw rotten eggs at their female cousins.
