These twin live oaks are about half way to the back forty coming from the cow pens.It seems to be a favorite stopping place for the cattle to rest. They are lucky it is still there as both trees were struck by lightening several years ago. It struck starting at the top and ran all the way to the bottom. You can see the scar on one tree and the other scar is on the other side of the other tree.

Oak trees are so majestic here in Texas...and the scars just give them more character. I can see why the cattle like the area...a cool off place on the arid, dry, hot days.
Such beautiful trees...I bet they have seen so many amazing things in their existence...
I love oaks. Here in SoCal, we have Coastal Oaks. I love to hike under them in our local mountains.
I am sure they could tell a lot of stories - have been there for awhile!
What a joy that they did not die fromthe hit. I know the cattle appreciate it, whether they say so or not. LOL
