Heading West

After feeding the cattle this morning we headed west to Frio county to check out a piece of property that may go up for sale at auction. On the way we saw this country fence brace and it wasn't the only one. Nicest fence brace iv'e ever seen, looks like a gate. We drove 60 miles on country roads hearing John's narration of the places he has farmed and who lived where and who drove off in a flooded creek and drowned. Who was a gambler and didn't come home for days when he was on a gambling spree. Nice drive in a real country area where we haven't traveled in a while.

I like the shot also. I bet I could enjoy John's stories, and yep there has to be a lot of them.

Nice fence brace! And fun to hear the history behind the places, I bet. My dad used to do that whenever we'd go anywhere. That's so-and-so's place. He married a Hanson girl, etc. etc. :-)

I surely would have called that a gate. I didn't know that fences had braces. You just never know when you are going to learn something new.

Love the wheel in the middle of this fence.

Such an unusual fence! I like it. The storytelling reminds me of when I used to take my elderly father out for drives in the country and he would tell me stories about each farm. He seemed to have known everyone and it was fun to hear about them.

That is neat looking. I like the wheel in the middle. I bet it was fun to listen to those stories too.
