Is this a road?

Yes this is a road. Some of the roads on the ranch are so grown over we have to guess at where they are. That is why we hit a hole and why we got stuck a few days ago. John walked this morning looking for boss cow. He found her dead, but no calf either born or unborn. He doesn't know if she ate too much clover and bloated or if she died giving birth. Not likely giving birth as she is the largest cow in the herd and has had several caves in the past. There is still lots of water in the dry creeks so they are not going to where the bloat blocks are. Yes it is sad but when you have a herd on four hundred acres things can and do happen. Most likely the wild hogs found the baby.

sorry about the loss of boss cow and her newborn, too. yes, i can imagine that finding all members of the herd is just about impossible when they can find what they need around the acreage.

I half expect to see a wagon coming over the horizon!

That is sad about the Boss. Is it possible the calf took up with another mama I wonder.
I know that is life on the ranch, but I bet it still hurts, both you guys!

Don't think so Jack because John saw Hog tracks around The Boss' body.

Paula, such a sad story, and sorry for your loss.

The thought of wild hogs feasting on the baby is sad indeed. Sorry to hear about the mama cow too.
