Checking The Ranch

We only made it down the lane to the farm house, then John had to carry the heavy bag of feed to the open shed behind the pens. I watched as the spoiled Jersey cow came out of the brush to collect her treat. She had her baby a couple of weeks ago. When the baby saw John it ran off like a March Hare. Jersey didn't worry until she was finished eating, then she was running and mooing for her baby. John showed her it had gone to the herd. Didn't see the mama hawk. I wonder how they fared in the rain and storm. Maybe I've missed out on this family affair. All the cattle tanks and ponds are full to the brim and running over. Water in the bar ditches and standing everywhere ready for mosquito's to breed in. We didn't see or hear of any damage so we were lucky as the news was naming all the towns around here and predicting the time the tornado would hit each one. The picture is my green bed in front of my house.

Glad your okay! These storms have been something else and terribly scary. The one last night left this place in a heck of a mess with lots of trees damaged but the houses are okay.
Tornado's scare the life completely out of me. Seen to many in my life and have been lucky enough not to have one take a home or life from me.
Thank you so much for your kind words about my daughters wedding. God was Good to us that day and the clouds parted long enough for the ceremony. She was married in Driftwood not too far from Austin. Willie Nelson was across the road singing at a fundraiser for farmers and I forgot to mention that in my post. I guess next time.
I am trying my best to take care of myself but it I still have some bad days but enjoy the goods one when I can.
You take care. I always enjoy coming by and hearing about your adventures.
Love
Maggie

Nice lush green garden.
Isn't there something you can put in the water troughs that's safe for cattle but not mosquitoes?

So happy that the bad weather took a turn away from you. How wonderful to have all the stock ponds and creeks running full, right?

Glad the Tornadoes missed y'all. I do declare this is going down as the wettest spring in years. We too have a lot of water and calling for more in the next few days.

SJ. We don't have any troughs, the cows drink out of the stock tank. The mosquitoes breed in the low places that stands with water. Down the street from where we live is what looks like a lake for weeks. The city does spray at times but nothing for the ranch where the weeds are high and standing in water in places.

Glad the rain added some moisture to your buckets out there. It's a good thing the bad weather missed you. Sounds like momma cow is taking care of her sweet baby.

Glad the tornadoes missed you. It was rough weather all across the south. I'm glad you are getting some good rain though. Take care, Sheila
