This is a skinny tree in the middle of the street compared to most in our town. This is an old part of town. There are some beautiful old live oak trees in the newer neighborhoods, not so much in the middle of the street, but in people's yards. To my dismay there are only one big oak in our neighborhood. The reason being according to an elderly (more elderly then us) man who told us our area was a big farm with a field where we live.

That is a beautiful tree, though, and at least it is still there.
Love the oak! I'd be glad to send you some acorns to plant. ;) We have a massive live oak at one back corner of our house. A super tall cedar at a front corner. Two pecan trees behind it. And oodles of other trees all around our yard area. I gotta have some trees!
We have Pecan and Arizona Ash trees all over the neighborhood, just not the giant Live Oaks our town is known for.
Lovely tree, glad it has some protection from traffic. How nice of the city to save it!
Love the fact that some of the trees in your town were not cut out for the streets...just 'building' with pavement around them!! Unique and clever. Saving some of the trees that way is awesome. And to have an older gentleman know the history of your area would be one to talk with and listen to his stories.
I think your town should join the Tree in the Street Sorority!
so glad to have oaks here on run*a*round. :)
