Toby's Tales by Jack Darnell

Jack is the author of several books and I was honored to have him ask me if he could include several of my children's poems in this one. He has a new book coming out soon to include two of my country poems. I met Jack and Sherry years ago in AOL Journals and continued our friendship in blogs when we transferred over. When they were down this way with their sons traveling they drove out for a short visit and they are all as delightful in person as online. Someone once told me I should toot my own horn so here goes. I've had several country poems printed in a small newspaper that was distributed at cattle auctions and feed stores in south Texas. One printed in The Southside Reporter in San Antonio and one about widowhood in a newsletter from A widowhood organization. One or two more which I don't remember right now since I'm not used to tooting my own horn.

Yee-haw! Girl, you toot that horn loud and clear! Absolutely nothing wrong with sharing your successes. Someday maybe I'll be able to say "You know, I knew her when ..."

It was a stroke of fate. I had this idea of a Turtle, born in Arizona and since Turtles live a long time, I was going to have him walk to Texas. You were talking about 'your' turtle that lived in your back yard, you called him Toby. Then when I read one of your poems on the AOL journals, it clicked. The kids have enjoyed Toby.

In this latest book I spotted the perfect place for 'Wanna Be Cowgirl' and 'Here Lies a Cowboy' by Paula, and you graciously allowed me to use them. I think you will enjoy the setting. My wife likes it and the proofers got a kick out of it. Our 59th anniversary is Sept 22nd. I would love to have it on Amazon and Target by then. it is called "The Vacation" I will put the e-books on Kindle for 99 cents (I wish I could put the paperbacks out that reasonable!) It is a 330 page novel, senior citizens on the vacation of a life time.

Paula, I love your down to earth style and everyone who reads them comments on the poems. Yeah Toot your horn, you deserve it. (I just used your platform to toot mine) HA!

Meeting you and JOhn was such a joy, and folks, she is just as sweet in person..

If I can get out of this cloudy spell after the operation, I think I can get it done....

Paula, you deserve to toot your own horn (if you have it - flaunt it).
I've always loved your poetry and it deserves to be published. Congratulations!
I'll look forward to seeing Jack's books on Amazon.

I always say, he who tooteth NOT his own
horn, his horn may not be tooted, So
toot away and have your say. Anyway
it's just all the nice, positive things that
are happening in your life and we like
to hear about it.
Looking forward to reading the book.

I'm glad my pal Jack added your poetry to his book. As for tooting your own horn, excess tooting may be a bit unbecoming, but you only go around once, so toot away!

That is very cool! Have we read the poems he's putting in his book? Where can I get his book?
