Just a Memory

A relative of my deceased husband made a comment on Facebook that reminded me of something I haven't thought of in a long time. The hat with the big feather was quite in style the year this was taken of him. At least it was in style here in south Texas, don't know about other places. Anyway the memory was that he used to call me The War Department when he was on the job and saying something about me to people who didn't know me. When they finally met me they were surprised to see I was a quiet lady. I guess the ones who never met me still think I am The War Department. lol Before we were married he called me Stinkots. I have no idea what that means or if he made it up. Did you have a nick name that was silly?

Not that I am aware of, who knows what odd names I am called to others. I think The War Department is quite a good nickname.

Amazing how real life can be whittled down to a memory. My dad has been gone for years, but until he died he would say, "Here comes Jacktum, a yanktum, hick stack stanktum, bowl legged knock kneed, pigeon toed Jacktum."

That is the closest thing I ever had to a Nic-name. I always liked Buck, Dude or Ace.

But memories, yes Just memories they can be sweet or bitter sweet.
Nite over there Stinkots. ;-)

My dad and some of my brothers always call me John. My mom said he wanted to name me Johnny Lue. Maybe he just wanted me to be a boy. Take care. Jean

You're such a sweet lady, Paula. I've never associated you with the War Department.

When I was a small child my grandmother always called me Jancsi, which is a Hungarian nickname.
Janos means "John", and I suppose "Jansci" is Johnny.

Later I was known as "Maestro" because I was a musician.

You seem more like the Peace Department to me, but then, I was never married to you ;o. Long ago, some coworkers used to call me Wednesday(from the Addams Family); I rather liked it.

My sister always called me Keithy when we were little. Good times.
