Santa arose from his cozy warm bed to take a ride in his bright red sled.
Stopping at the home of a little grey rabbit, for many a week this had been his habit.
Rabbit hopped in trying to hold on tight, while Santa turned left and then to the right.
A beautiful cardinal perched on Santa's shoulder, as he made a stop by a big round boulder.
A little green lizard was sunning on the rock. He climbed aboard making the seat belt lock.
On down the road and along by the creek, all his little friends, Santa was trying to seek.
Santa saw an armadillo rooting under a log. Looking for breakfast, but he only found a frog.
They both joined the ride to laugh and sing, hitting the bumps made them want to cling.
They rode and had fun until almost dark. All agreed it was time to park.
Let Santa get to work, friends go home,
until Santa again decides to roam.

Your delightful poem has a wonderful Texas Christmas flair. Thanks for sharing it with us!
That's really cute, Pauline! I do hope you got a copyright. It would make a wonderful children's story.
LOVE it. Perfect for the season.
This is perfect!!
You are talented my friend.
Your words truly painted a picture. I could 'see it all' as I read.
Extraordinary.
That was adorable. I'd love to see you try a 2016, something...
Doesn't even have to be upbeat. Sometimes things just aren't, & there is room for that as well.
I always love the poems. Somehow my comments have been floating off into space.. Gotta remedy that!!
Love from Florida!
