Everyone Has Toys

Jack over at Shipslog gave me an idea again. He wrote about big people's toys, such as boats and computers. Childrens's toys, such at dolls and toy trucks. When I was young I didn't have many toys and didn't know the difference. My sister and I made a playhouse with an apple crate for a cabinet and an old car gas tank as a sofa, it worked fine. I do have a memory of my first real doll though. It wasn't made of cloth like a Raggedy Ann. It was made of the clay like stuff that dolls used to be made of. Not sure what it is called. I loved that doll. One day another little girl came to play and she slammed my doll down on the front porch and broke it. I was heartbroken. My mama taped it's wounds. The doll looked ugly but I still played with it. The next time the girl came over she slammed my doll on the cement porch and that "did it in for good". I don't know why the girl was so mean because she lived with her parents and grandparents which three people in their household was working so I'm sure she had more toys then I did. I don't remember ever getting another doll. I'm sure I probably did but it didn't come to a bad end for me to have a memory of it. Now as an adult my favorite toy is my computer and my I-pad. what is yours?

My current favorite toy would have to be the laptop.

Funny thing. When I was thinking of grown up toys, I was here at my FAVORITE one and was so familiar with it I did not THINK of it. Yep the Computer is my favorite indoor toy.

While here in NC I pass my tractor, it at one time was my favorite big boy toy!

I've always been a child at heart and I still like toys - - but I suppose my only real "toy" now is my computer.

I'm sorry to hear about the mean girl who smashed your doll. That's really a rotten thing to do! I think we have all encountered evil kids when we were children.

Thanks for asking Mary. I do feel fairly good most time but my Platelets are too low. They were 35,000 on the 17. The doctor would like them to be at least 150,000. I go for blood work and to see the Hemotoligist (sp) on the 31. He is trying to keep them from going to 10,000 as I could bleed. Actually I have taken about everything he can think of except harsher Chemo. I hope and pray I won't have to take that since it probably wouldn't be a success either.

Oh, this is such a good post...my toys are too numerous to mention. And how I owuld have loved any one of them as a child, but especially my camera and the ability to take limitless photos.

Such a shame about your dolly. What a mean little girl your friend was. My cellphone and computer are my toys now too.

PS) And I can't forget books too.

I guess my computers are my toys now. I never had a lot of real "toys" when I was a kid, and mostly used my imagination. Your play house sounds like some that we made. My one "toy" indulgence was paper dolls. I LOVED paper dolls, and my mother didn't mind buying me new ones now and then. I had quite a little family of them. Mom would give me her old Sears and Montgomery Ward catalogs, too, and I would cut out furniture and dishes and things. I could spend hours playing with them. A few years back I began buying up old paper dolls off eBay and Amazon. I was able to find some that are the exact same as my very favorite ones I played with and collected when I was little.
