We went riding this afternoon to my old hometown. The school has changed so much it inspired me to make a long distance call to an old classmate to tell her about the changes we saw. This building is the auditorium with me and my fellow cheerleaders beside it. It is built out of old Sand Rock that is so in sight in this area. They have taken the windows out and installed very large solid glass windows. It must be very light inside compared to what it was in the 50's. It has a porch to the north where as a child we played Fruit Basket Turn Over. The actual school was one two story brick building with slide type fire escapes which I was terrified of they were so slick and went almost straight down and when kids played on them with wax paper you really escaped fast. When I started school, for a little country girl I thought that was the largest building I had ever seen and it may have been. Now there are buildings every where and I couldn't imagine where all those kids are coming from until we found a pretty housing addition with pretty houses, paved roads, and of all things, fire plugs. My little hometown has gone city. We didn't even have a water department, let alone fire plugs. The roads were sand, holes, and bumps. Humm if I was younger and healthier I would consider moving back.
