Just a country girl kicking around the dirt roads taking pictures of trees, gates, animals. cactus, and anything else that strikes my un-fancy mind. You are welcome to take a look and come back if you like.

Shotgun Houses By Way Of Jack's Blog
I was just reading Jack's blog where he mentioned shotgun houses. It made me remember some of them in my little hometown. There was a small lane that was supposed to be a street directly behind our house and about half way down the street was a shotgun house on the left side. An older couple not known to anyone moved in. Soon a rumor got around that the man was a doctor. Odd a man who was a doctor would be living in a house like this because it sure wasn't pretty and didn't have a nice yard. He was not practicing medicine and didn't have a shingle out. They didn't make friends with anyone and no one knew much about them but once in a while someone would have a medical problem and they was not a doctor in our town. The closest one was in San Antonio and people didn't always have a way or the money to go there. My Mama had nose bleeds often but this one day her nose bled all day long and it was quite scary. When Daddy came home from work and she told him he took her down that little lane to that shotgun house to ask the man who we had been told was a doctor if he could do something for her. He Crautrized (sp) the inside of her nose and she never had a nose bleed again. They were odd and the situation was odd but they were certainly a blessing to our family.

What an interesting and amazing story, Paula! It seems like that "odd" man must have been a doctor - or at least had good medical skills.
I have no idea what a shotgun house is - but I do now. What an interesting story. Love it.

What an interesting story touching also. All humans cannot be put into single particular categories. TOO many break the mold. I like this Doctor in the shot gun house.
Living on the tundra in far northern Minnesota I found you post most fascinating. However fascination center on the shotgun house of which I had not a clue....:)
a blessing, indeed. the old adage, you can't judge a book by it's cover applies here.
thank God he helped
your sweet mother :)
Wow, wouldn't you love to know their real story??? That is amazing.
