Story From The 50's

My deceased husband and I were engaged and he was serving our country with the army in Japan. I was living at home and working. One day when I came home from work I could hardly get in the door as there were two big heavy crates blocking the door. On closer inspection the crates were addressed to me from my future husband. A twelve place setting of this china. They are beautiful but I don't have them anymore. A few years ago I divided them into two sets of six so each daughter has a smaller set to remember their Dad by and enough to use if they so desire. We have never seen another set like these and could add to each set if we ever run across this particular set of beautiful china.

The china is beautiful and I think it was a very nice idea to let each of your daughters have them.

beautiful pattern. How good is that? no broken pieces! NICE. I know I would appreciate the gift (as a sibling) if it happened to me. I am then SURE the girls LOVE your thoughtfulness, But they would say, "That is just mama!"
It is good to have something to connect to a dad lost that soon!

Love from over across the Gulf in Florida...

What a beautiful pattern and how nice that you shared them - no hurt feelings!

What a beautiful china pattern. And what a thoughtful gift that was for him to give you. And then for you to pass down to your children years later.

It is wonderful that you had enough to give each daughter a set...it is beautiful.
