Come Ride With Me

Can you see the boat in the distance? Very bad picture but thats it, the boat in the stock tank. John's daughter told him the sweetliks tubs are almost empty so we had to hurry to check and then run to On The Farm to buy some more. When we got out to the ranch it was very windy so the cows were hiding out in the brush. When we came back with the tubs they all came out to see what was for lunch. They stopped by the gate as if waiting to be invited. As we had neared the ranch we saw a lot of blood and stuff on the pavement so wondering what had been killed last night we drove slow and I spotted a doe in the bar ditch. When we got down the lane to the farm house the young renter was out side so John stopped to chat with him. John told him about the deer and asking him if he wanted a ham off the deer. Renter was making such a face. John was so slow to get his point across I had to butt in and tell him John was asking if he wanted some meat for his dogs. John's idea was for the meat to not go to waste even though it had been in the morning sun and not good for human consumption. Renter said he would go look at it. I don't think it would be a good idea to encourage them to eat raw meat. If they get a taste for it calves may be next. John would be very unhappy and John and renter are getting along so well now. The wind was blowing and it reminded me of why I didn't like to live out there. We lived there 14 months and it was dry. The field in front of the house was plowed up so the sand blew so hard on some days we couldn't see the highway. The sand seeped in around the window air conditioners and under the doors. It was hard to keep a clean house. John's daughter had put out two large round bales of hay and its all gone too but they have a lot of hay from when it rained so much and they made a lot of hay and kept it.

roflmbo @ the boat in the stock tank. Also at John asking renter if he wanted a ham off that road kill. I'll bet he thought John had lost his mind.

I would ride in that boat with you if there were any fish in that pond LOL. Might not be a good idea to give frest meat to the dogs sure enough. It might give them the tastes for raw blood, the trouble will follow. Have a good Sunday. Helen

I wonder if any of the cattle take a ride in that boat when no ones around..:) Glad you cleared up what John meant, but I bet that is what he wanted the renter to think...ha. take care, Sheila

I can see the renter thinking, you want us to eat THAT! LOL. If he had been on the ball he could have. Never thought about the raw meat leading to poaching calves, especialloy new born, but I can see where it could easily happen. But for some good dog food, I think I would cook it for them. Drying it would be good, but probably too much trouble. In Alaska they feed the dogs dried salmon.
Good Texas info. entry. I liked it.
Bring the boat to Florida we will sell it. LOL

That is so sad about the doe being killed.
The renter said do I want what? Glad you chimed in and explained.

No wonder the guy made a face, he probably thought John lost his mind!!! Ewwww...I wouldn't go near it or allow my dogs to have any part of it either for fear they would get bloodthirsty like you say.

That boat is so funny - do they get in it and pretend they are somewhere else??

we had a snow storm last night and some kid was driving his four wheeler around the neighborhood he must of stirred up a fox from by the river. The little guy walked up the hill and into the neighbors yard, peed on the fence for about a minute...then he looked at me and walked away.
