Anyone Have A Spare Boat?

It is as wet here as it was dry in the summer. we are lucky we have good drainage here where we live but I imagine there will be flooding in San Antonio. I hope people will not go around the barracades and lose their life like they so often do. It has rained off and on all day and there is 100% chance tomorrow. Besides the rain there is shunder and lightening. John says that is not the norm for it to thunder and lightening with rain in the winter. The bluebonnets should be beautiful this year. I've been told the plants are already peeking through the ground. The cold doesn't hurt them. I've also been told they (who ever they is) is predicting an early spring.

I kept my word today and started getting rid of some of the hoarded items in the garage. It was hard to do but I got rid of my jump rope. I've had it about fifteen years just in case I wanted to use it for exercise. I never did want to. We've had a large country wall hanging rolled up that some renters left. Why we didn't leave it in the farm house where it looked nice for the next renters? But no, I just had to bring it home in case I could think of a place to hang it. Our walls already have enough stuff hanging on them. Everytime I walked to the back of the garage I pierced my leg with it. It won't do that anymore but I hope who ever gets it has a place to hang it and doesn't use it for a pet bed or something. Then there is the toaster oven I thought I would use so much. When I didn't I moved it to a special spot in the garage. Now those sticks that flags come on? Well I disposed of the old flags properly but I just may need those sticks some day so I stuck them in a corner with opened up coat hangers and old mops. Now someone else can find a corner for them just in case they need them someday for something. I actually threw away some small boxes just the right size to mail things in. Whoo my garbage can is almost full and the truck doesn't come until next Wednesday. You don't think I throw away gift bags or bows that are in good condition? Of course not but they are neat now. Not that I could find the one I need but by golly they are there just in case. I'm getting quite a collection of plastic bowls for Susie and they are stacked neatly. She even has a mat to stand on while she eats so her little paws doesn't get cold on the cement floor. Then when I got it all loaded it started to rain again so I had to drive fast to the collection box and throw it all away before I changed my mind. Now I know why that box is built the way it is. Once you turn loose there is no turning back, its gone.

I need to take a cleaning spell. Good idea to put them in a container where you can't get them back lest you change you mind and decide you need them. Good for you getting some things cleaned out. When you get finished you are welcome to come to my house and sort through some things. Helen

Thanks for your comments on my blog. I fell behind in December in keeping up with yours -- so much about you reminds me of me and makes me laugh. We have been watching a program on hoarders on A&E and we wonder about ourselves a bit. For me, the eyeopener came when I discovered about 40 whipped topping containers, most of them without lids. Letting go of "stuff" can be so liberating!!

Oh Paula, will you come to ou r house and basement and do the same?? I give things to Joe and tell him to throw it away or if it is decent put it in the salvation army box, later I will go down to the basement and there that item is. I say "I thought I told you to throw that away". His pat answer is "I might need it for something.'

You make my day dear girl. I sure can relate to the hoarding of certain items. Hubby and I just cleaned out the basement...after 29 yrs. of clutter that we "MIGHT" need someday. We tossed old mayo jars, jugs, nuts, bolts, wiring from what was replaced, bits and pieces of lumber, my oh my, even a bag of old socks, Good grief. By time we finished, we threw out 3 truckloads, can you believe it? All because we had to dig a new well, move the water tank and the pantry. We sure got a lot of laughs out of that day.
Continue to share your wonderful days.
Blessings Be Yours

PAULA,
YOU ARE TO BE COMMENDED FOR SAVING THOSE THINGS. EACH OF THE ITEMS MAY COME IN HANDY SOME DAY.
I STILL HAVE HANGING IN A CLOSET A BEAUTIFUL WOOL SUIT THAT MARY JANE INSISTED ON BUYING BACK IN THE YEAR 1958.
THE PRE-WORLD WAR TWO SUIT THAT HAD SHRUNK AND COULD'NT GET BUTTONED AT THE WAIST.
I DID WEAR THE NICE WOOL SUIT SEVERAL TIMES TO CHURCH AND ONCE TO A FUNERAL. NEVER COULD FEEL RELAXED IN A SUIT AND TIE.
SO FOR THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS THE DARK WOOL SUIT HAS BEEN ON THAT OLD WIRE COAT HANGER, MOVED TO DIFFERENT ABODES, HOWEVER PROTECTED FROM DUST WITH A WORN SHIRT COVERING IT.
NOT TO MENTION SOME WING TIP BLACK SHOES THAT WENT WELL WITH THE DARK WOOL SUIT. AND HAT. BEGINNING TO WONDER NOW JUST WHY HAVE I HELD ONTO THESE THINGS ?
TOOLS TOO. A PAIR OF PLIARS THAT CAME WITH THE MODEL-T FORD. USED THOSE PLIARS DURING YEARS ON THE FARM AS A BOY, REPAIRING THINGS WITH 'BALING WIRE'. FARMERS STASHED BALING WIRE ALONG ON FENCE POSTS FOR FUTURE NEEDS AND FOR NEIGHBORS HAVING A 'BREAKDOWN' AND NEEDING BALING WIRE. SO SAVE, IT MAY BE NEEDED. sam

Wow, you threw away something? Just wait, next week you will need something you threw away! That is a scientifically proven FACT!

You threw away the opened up clothes hangers? NOw what are you gonna roast weiners on? Or reach for something just out of reach. I guess you will have to open another hanger (If you can find a wire one!)
Always like your Blog

Just dropped by for a little visit to find you working in the rain! It's still very drippy here but no hard rain, thank goodness. I did a lot of clearing out things last spring but I do believe I could do it again. Sure hope "they" are right about an early spring & maybe it'll inspire to do it again. Stay dry :)

I try to limit the number of visitors to my house so that they don't put me in home. I save the most stupid things imaginable for that one possible day in the future that I might need them.

On occasion, that day actually comes to pass, but for the most part, it's just part of my "junk."
