Mesquite Trees Lie

All the old timers and old cowboys swear by the mesquite trees. When they leaf out winter is over. We checked the ones on the ranch and they are leafing out so we were sighing a sigh of relief. They are not as full as this picture and of course the beans you see here will come later. Like all the unusual weather everywhere this year the mesquite tree myth isn't completely correct as folks we got winter here again. Its cold tonight and is supposed to be colder tomorrow night. Our heater is feeling gooood. We got a nice rain early this morning and that was good for me as I put Weed & Feed on my lawn yesterday anticipating the rain. Yes I never learn, I'm feeding my weeds again but I have to try something as the weed stalks are so strong my yard man had trouble mowing. The wind blew hard all day. The poor little hummingbirds had to hang onto the feeders for dear life to keep from being blown away. I bet they think they got their dates mixed up and came here too early. You may wonder about the mesquite beans. When they get dry and fall off the cows will eat them. I have read that the indians used to grind them up to make flour. Well I don't think they had anything to grind them with but maybe they pulverized them with a rock. Dar: About the fainting goats---John's daughter had a couple one time that were supposed to be that type but I never saw them faint. Jack: Yes I am always ready to go in the truck. I'm so thankful in spite of some health problems I can still ride or drive a lot. If the price of gasoline wasn't so high I would really be a low maintenace gal.

We are cooler today too, after two days around 70. I think the 70's are supposed to come back Tuesday. Enjoy your day, Sheila

Now it is rough when a sign of nature says Spring is over, but the weather around you says, Huh uh!

I guess if the hummingbirds can hold on a few days they will be very happy.

So hang in there, turn the truck heater on, and make another road or tow, then it will be pretty hot riding around. LOL

I think Winter and Spring have been having fun with all of us this year, taking turns showing up and hanging around. I'm hoping we're done with the really cold weather here.

I don't think the weather man knows what he is doing this year. Hot one day cold the next, people all over say it is happening there. We look for the palo verdes to bloom here. They decorate downtown Phoenix with yellow. One of these days it will be very hot, that I know. And will stay that way too long. I bet you don't hover around 110 degrees in Texas or do you, in the summer?
