Lost In The Country

This is the road we were looking for but we took the looong way around to get there. This is the road the church we go to is on and we have been meaning to go out to tour the country cemetary behind and beside the church so today was the day. John suggested a cut-through to see some different country and we ended up lost. Every road we went down we came to a big cul-de-sac but saw some pretty new homes and lots of undeveloped brush. Some people parked on the side of the road admiring their country purchase and thinking of their future country home and lots of lots for sale. We finally backtracted and went back to the highway and came out to a familiar road. When we got to the cemetary there was a sheriff's deputy car parked there with his a/c running full blast. Some of our tax dollars going out his exhaust. John told him who we were and why we were there. He said he was sitting there listening to his radio. Humm he stayed the entire time we walked the cemetary in the hot sun never turning his air off. I saw a lot of familiar names and names of people I knew growing up.

Wow, that cop was sitting there and there wasn't even a donut shop?

I see a lot can be learned in a Texas Cemetery. I guess the Deputy was 'specting some of the dead to raise ... Cane.

A Cemetery is fun, educational and entertaining. We lived beside one and a couple times went out with the Grand kids to see who could find the oldest grave, and who could find kin. Sherry's mom, dad, brother, aunt and more were there.

Glad you got lost(as long as nothing was hurt but John's pride). That way I know I am not the only one that does

Joe likes to wALK THE CEMETERY in Wilber where his mom is buried. That is a big cemetery and I don';t try to walk it with him. I have one time and it was hot and I had blisters on my feet from the shoes I had on. We go to so many on memorial day

Paul and I go for long drives all the time. We pick a road and see where it takes us. We've discovered a lot of beautiful mountain country this way. (Hugs)Indigo

We were going to find some of Jim's family
in a large Cemetery. It was so large they
would take you in a Golf Cart to different sections. He was driving fast and I am in the front seat. The seats are slick and he went around curves fast. I said all I need was to be Headlines in the news next day saying "LADY FELL FROM GOLF CART IN SHARON MEMORIAL CEMETARY". I didn't fall out and glad when the ride was over.

I'm just like that cop ... I don't turn off my A/C unless I am forced to do so. It sure is nice to take a drive now and then!!

That road could easily be in southern Kansas -- where I'm from.

I like to visit cemeteries, too. It does seem odd that the cop was parked there for so long. Was he expecting a crime wave in the graveyard?

Hey Paula, I am back and not going to go near a cemetery for a while. I think I am in sync for today at least but I am not ready to get to close to a cemetery. lol

I've always been fascinated with cemetaries, especially the older ones. It's sort of a view into the past and I often wonder how the lives of the people buried there were spent.

I was stopped by a county mounty a couple weeks ago. I don't know if he'd turned the siren on or not. I'd never heard with Ugly's bellowing. Couldn't image what he wanted. Was timely my just happen t have exhaust system repair parts on cab floor. Of course he had to see if there was an outstanding warrant for my arrest, and check Ugly's registration to see if it were hot? We had a nice chat then each of us went on our way.
I had tried to make an entry here a day or so ago. Of course, my mind working like a steel trap every thing had missed being caught up thin in it. So much for memory, hey what?
