Long Day At The Ranch

Today was the first time in a long while we had a long day at the ranch since John doesn't have the number of cattle he had. We didn't intend it that way, it just happened. We went to Poth for feed this morning first thing and then took it out and distributed it. Rode around checking things and his son called he was near by with the young bull John is buying from them so we had to wait. John's granddaughter shows a calf or two and they had three to pick from. She didn't want the third to go to auction so guess who was nominated to buy it? After unloading, the guys always have to do their thing of riding around and discussing so I waited by the pens with the newcomer. Of course I had to go to the gate to see if Mr. Snake was anywhere to be seen, he/she wasn't. After lunch and a nap we went out again to check the calf to see if it was still in the pens and he was. We went out looking for Pal and her calf and guess who was with them? Ginger! Ginger is bred too so they will have a lot to talk about.

At least you got a nap in. Naps are important.

This is a stupid question but where I was raised we had bull snakes, so now for the question. Do the rattlers bite livestock? Great pictures.

Sometimes I'd like to steal your life for a few days. I could use a long day at a ranch right about now. ~Mary

Glad to know the girls are getting along there on the ranch. Sharing stories and learning about the new calves and talking about the ones coming.

Seems like a new picture of two on the side bar, or I have been so busy trying to get finished before the net dropped off I did not notice.

Take care, and relax some!

Sounds like that Ginger is just the social butterfly of the herd ~ such a little gossip I bet. Keep clear of those snakes! Don't they hole up for the winter?

I glad you talk to the animals because I do
the same thing. I do think they understand.
Hope the turtles are doing good.
