I Don't Want The Sun And The Moon, I Just Want The Stars

I stayed in the truck with the windows rolled up while John fed today. I've had my fill of hay fever, allergy, or whatever. I'm constantly scanning the area for new calves, road runners, anything different. I spotted something white across the field and against the fence. Something that hasn't been there in the past. What is that white thing up there I ask John. Oh its probably just a plastic bag. Well then why is it so shiny? John can be so uninterested in his surroundings at times. Oh I know hungry cows have to come first but when he was finished I said lets go check that white thing out so we drove across the field and up to the fence. Guess what it was???---It was an old white lamp shade with shiny silver stars around it. Probably a mate to one of the renters old couches long gone in the bon-fire. Would you please get me a couple of those stars? I can use them to decorate something Texas style. The nice man didn't only get me two or three, he got six and off we go for home stars in hand. I start lunch and had Frito Pie half done on the stove and corn on the cob half done in the micro-wave when John runs into the kitchen saying we have to go back to the ranch I've lost my phone. Oh I'm in for it now, he must have dropped his phone when he was bent over fighting with the glue on the back of the pretty silver stars. Timidly I suggested we look there first but no phone. We checked at all the stops we made, hay yard, the well, all the bath tubs with salt and meal. I'm thinking I should have checked around the house first. He probably took it off his belt and forgot it. One more place where he fed the poor mama cow who is feeding the twins and her own calf. We searched under the trees and was heading back to the truck to come home. I looked down and there it was pressed into the ground by a calf foot. A little on the dirty side I pressed the back on it and it seemed to work okay. John said you may not be good for anything else but you sure can find things. A girls gotta take compliment where she gets one, huh?

Yes ma'am, you must be a wizard at finding things if you found a phone, on the ranch, tromped into the mud...I'd say you deserve a GOLD star for that. Great story Paula and that frito-pie sounds pretty darned good!

My mom had a gift for finding lost items too -- she could also lose them better than anybody!

Well Paula, that stubborn man actually gave you a compliment!!!. Last night The lady from down at the corner came up with her teenage son and wanted to know if we had a mowing job for him. Then Joe said he had talked to her about him mowing the hill. So the kid said he would use his own mower and cut the whole lawn for 10.00 dollars. Our mower is falling apart. Now anyone in their right mind knows that is a bargain. And Joe was saying , I might try doing it 2 more times. I said to Justin the kid that we would be calling him. Why does Joe talk to someone about it and then pussy foot around? Stubborn??? Yep

My hubby finds the things I lose and that's a good thing. Sometimes my kitty hides my things so we look in her favorite little hidey places first.
