Just a country girl kicking around the dirt roads taking pictures of trees, gates, animals. cactus, and anything else that strikes my un-fancy mind. You are welcome to take a look and come back if you like.

Out In The Country
People like me want to get out of four walls even if its three digits, no rain, and gasoline is high so today we headed south. John suggested Christine, Texas a little one horse town with not much of anything but country roads and I like country roads. Me driving my truck on my gas and him navigating. We're going to Christine, wrong! After miles we came to a dead end sign. He thinks the sign lies so I keep driving. A car comes up behind me and never turns off. I'm kicking up lots of white dust but it keeps following until I run out of road. A gate on the left and a house on the right. The car turns in to the drive-way of the house. People are standing out in the yard staring at us. Who are they I presume they are thinking? I nochantly turn around and wave at the people. I felt I should have stopped to say we thought the sign lied. I drove back to a Y in the road and went another way. we never did find Christine on those roads. We know how to go there on a paved road but I like for my little Ford Ranger to get dusty and some exercise on the wash board roads. After all thats what trucks are for, huh? It was worth the trip because we saw the biggest bull Watusi with big big horns and he was mad about something. He was kicking up dirt pawing the ground. I had to take his picture against the sun so it probably won't come out. Then we saw two donkeys with the cutest little baby donkey. I hopped out again and started sneaking close to the fence to get a close-up picture. The mama started nudgeing the baby to move on so it turned its back to me so that picture won't be good. It was fun to get out for a while on a country road.

I had to laugh when you said John thought the sign lied...just like my husband, exactly!! Good post.
i like that. the sign was lying... :)
Sounds like quite an adventure, Paula...you should have stopped at the house and said Howdy. Love your flame background and the pictures of all the old buildings are wonderful! John Wingo
I love old country roads, especially those liein' ones. Love also, your new look, the flames suggest the heat you guys have been getting. Always have had a fondness for old buildings., wishing to sneak through them. Nice entry. Dust and all.

Sounds like you had a real adventure even if you didn't end up in Christine.
Best,
Marty
I love all the pictures and your header. We have done the same when out in the country roads and then there is a house.
It seems to me you find lots of ways to have fun. ~Mary
I just got back from a long trip in the country. I want to never leave my driveway for another three months!
