A Ranchers Gotta Do What A Ranchers Gotta Do

So we did it, we didn't want to do it, but we did it. We drove to one of John's landlord's house in the pea soup and drizzly rain. The company who is going to run a gas line across the ranch had been there and left a paper for John to sign giving them permission to destroy some of his grazing grass and then they are supposed to plant it back when they are through. Whew we haven't been to his house in several years and he has become a hoarder. Is that getting to be a fad or what? When we walked in the front door he started leading us to the kitchen. I noticed all the chairs and sofa in the living room was covered with "stuff". There was only one vacant chair smack dab in front of the TV. His chair I presume. There was three vacant chairs in the kitchen so we did our paper work and visited an hour. We were only twelve miles from my home town according to Live Traffic Feed so we went to Castroville, Texas to eat. How they have me listed at from there I will never know because I have never lived there and I did not list myself as living there. We drove home on a pretty country road and was able to miss the busy highway we drove in on. The traffic tends to make us both very nervous so that John whistles under his breath and I hum or sing. The more congested the traffic the louder we sing and whistle so we make quite a duo at times. The messy weather had disappeared and the sun was out and no traffic much so it was a quiet trip home.

Sounds like a pleasant trip back. If given a choice I'll always choose the back roads over the highway. Although I do tend to like steep mtn. roads, with steep ravines. (Hugs)Indigo

As usual, you crack me up. I can just hear you and John whistling and singing.

Love back roads. More leisurely, less stressful. Perfect for whistling and singing.

I prefer the back roads too...I don't care to drive very fast anymore and I like to be able to see the country I'm driving through. I'd like to hear one of y'all's duets!

Are you still pretty dry in Tx? I saw in the news where one town in Tx. is hauling water in. We do not like unfamiliar roads or busy highways any more. Actually if we had our way we would go to the store and come home.We had to be in a quite a bit of traffic to get to my orthopedist. I screwed up last night and hope I didn't do any more damage to my knee.

Yep, we are not too crazy about traffic either. I do enjoy driving West of the Mississippi though, much more rested than the traffic East.(Of course that doesn't include the cities West of the Miss. They are always bad.)
We drove thru Castroville a couple times. Never saw you!!! So I assume you ain't from there!!
Love from over here. Enjoyed the trip, even the hoarder's house!!!
