A Night Out

Yep old farmers and ranchers do go out occasionaly. Of course it takes a day of resting under the a/c to get ready. It was the awards dinner sponsered by The Soil and Water Conservation. I guess John's name is grandfathered on the list from his days of a big peanut farmer. Our friends who are no longer able to attend were missed so we sat with the most popular old 83 year old farmer nicknamed Cotton. Everyone stopped by to hug or shake his hand. He told us he ran over his walking cane with his tractor but had a brand new one to show. Amazing he drove from his country place to town to attend and I'm sure it was well after dark before he got home. What else would a south Texas dinner consist of but a barbeque plate and iced tea? John won the first door prize, a large ice chest.

How nice that John won the door prise...the BBQ and iced tea doesn't sound bad either, but I bet the company of your old friend Cotton made the evening! I hope you have a good weekend.

We have a 96 year old man that lives right behind where Joe walks Spunky and he still drives and up until about a year ago mowed his own lawn, goes to shoot pool once a week. If I should happen to live that long I hope I can be as active. The barbecue and Ice Tea sounds good. I bet it was nice to get out and eat someone else's cooking.

That lucky rascal John. I never win the door prize type things. hahahaha
Glad you got to get out and stretch your legs. I like 'Cotton' too, and we never met.

But of course he won the lottery when he found you!(wink)
