A Tribute To Melvin On Father's Day

Mel was a man of honor who loved his daughters with all his heart. He was taken from this earth too young so only was able to know one of four grandchildren for a short time. He was building a swing shaped like an airplane for that grandson at the time of his death. Mel never missed a day of school or was tardy for twelve years. He took obligations very seriously, He served his country in the Army when drafted without complaint even though it delayed our marriage. Mel loved his job as a Commercial Refrigeration Mechanic and was a loyal employee. He was very talented and handy. If someone said something couldn't be fixed that was a challenge to him to show them it could be done. He used his talents to help people especially widow women, only charging for any parts used. He loved to talk and could carry on a conversation with anyone about anything. Melvin Lieck 1933- 1987 missed but not forgotten.

It is such a shame that his life didn't last longer. I can tell from what you say that he was a wonderful person, interesting and fun to know.

Mel was obviously an exceptionally good man and I'm sure you have many cherished memories. It's a shame that he passed away so young.

Oh sweet lady, We fell in love with Mel from the first you mentioned him on your Journal. Going to work with him, working on the home with him and hunting with him, or at least counting the daddy long legs.! The love letters from overseas, yes you had quite a man and the kids had a great father!!!
SWEET entry! A few tears no doubt, every once in awhile!

Dear Pauline,

I was thinking as I studied Mel's picture. His face reflects all of the loving and honorable characteristics that you described. I can imagine how you and the girls must have missed him.

Mel was a good looking man.

Paula, Your Mel certainly picked a keeper in you and your girls were so blessed to have such a wonderful, loving father. Life is so full of bittersweet, isn't it, but we must always cherish the best of the best.
I read the sadness as you miss him, especially on days like today. Lots of hugs to you as you remember.
