A New Baby

Yes, we have a new baby. No, not another calf. On one of John's tomato plants he already has a baby tomato. He was so excited you would think he had never grown anything before. At one time he grew vegtables besides the large peanut crop. He had a large crew working for him and the produce was shipped off. We stopped at the nursery to buy Bloom Set and John almost fainted at the cost of it, but was too embarassed to refuse to buy it. We came home and when he sprayed it on the plants he discovered the tiny tomato. Humm nothing like a bacon sandwich with fresh tomatoes and onions. Hope I'm not counting my chickens before they hatch. At the ranch this morning we saw one turkey hen heading toward the dry creek bed. Probably wanting to get a drink from the mud puddles there. Since she was alone she is probably nesting. The picture of the gate is not ours as I've said before our gate is ugly but this one is in our county. The strawberry festival is this week-end so we will want to travel a county road to church so we can miss the heavy bumper to bumper traffic. People from San Antonio and the surrounding towns love that strawberry shortcake and country music.

a baby tomato? I will dream of yours tonight as the snow continues to blanket our countryside. Right this minute it's still snowing as hard as all day. Strawberries would make my day., as well as that fine sandwich.

That sandwich sounds good right about now. And so does some strawberry shortcake.

My dad always treated his tomatos with the love of a parent, really.
