Hoeing Grass Burrs vs Shoveling Snow

I'm trying to figure out which I would like to do more. I've never shoveled show in the cold but I've hoed a million grass burrs. I've pulled them up by the roots. I've put chemicals on with not much results. They just love our hot dry climate. Last year I thought I had them under control. It was going to be simple when I saw one new plant hoe it up by the roots. I think the devil is down there fertilizing them. My yard if full of them again and they seem to have gotten smart even. They grow close to the ground so the lawn mower mows right over them without cutting them. Guess I'll stay here and keep fighting them. Snow is beautiful but I think I may get cabin fever after a few days and shoveling seems more work then hoeing.

Everyone here is complaining and having problems with grass burrs too, they are awful. I use to dig them up in the yard too but this year there are just too many...Our pastures are covered in them, sigh!! I love Texas but between the fire ants and grass burrs I get frustrated!!

we have bur clovers all over the yard and some nasty little spiky things that hurt like the devil. not sure if they're the same thing as you're describing.

shoveling snow is really fun - for about 10 min. :)

Shoveling snow is a chore for sure, especially in the frigid cold. It's nice to look at but a pain to deal with.

I agree about the devil fertilizing them. I hate them buggers! I only saw a few at home this year and shot them I hope they are gone too!

Love from south Carolina...

When I was about 5 and living in Beeville, TX I remember those grass burs clearly, lol. My mother had always told us to wear shoes outdoors. I had gone across the circle to visit with a neighbor and decided I needed to go the bathroom but waited a bit to long and got stuck in the traffic circle that was filled with those burs. I had an accident. My mother spanked my backside all the way home....which did not hurt quite as badly as all the burs in my feet!

...I hear ya...I'd much rather do just about anything than deal with snow, ice, and crazy drivers who don't have the sense to slow down!!

PS...I have a black and gold bathroom!!!

Is that the burrs that will stick to your pants leg or shoestrings in my case...ha. Seems I remember a weed too that had thorny leaves/stems that was painful to step on. Hope your weekend is going well. Sheila
