We Fell Into A Hole

This is what it looked like all across the ranch several months ago when they were laying a gas pipe across the country. It has been finished for a while and somewhat grown over. There are about five gates. One going onto a farm-to-market road, one into the next property which is firmly locked only for the pipeline workers to use. Then there are three into the different parts of the ranch since it is owned by three different siblings. Near each gate where the water has run down from the few heavy rains we had the land is sinking in places and the grass has grown over. Some of the sinking areas are quite deep holes. So far we haven't disappeared but it does rattle our teeth to a certain degree when we hit one of the holes while driving around looking for a certain cow or calf. Now if it was me (it isn't my business)I would call that pipeline and surely they would come back and fill the holes and tamp it down good and tight. I think one of the owners will happen upon it and I bet they will call them. Yes we fell into a hole, not this deep, but deep enough.

I guess they really aren't as careful about the tamping out in the fields as on a highway, but the damage is just as bad (or worse since the grass/weeds hide it). Yeah betcha if the owner hits one of the holes he will yell....
Good luck...

We have a sink hole (that's what I call them) on our pipeline right of way and I've called them twice and they still haven't fixed it. Each time it rains it gets worse! I've thought about digging it out more and maybe they'll get the hint!! I've managed to avoid it with the tractor but I did watch some gas line maintenance workers drive into it and get stuck and they still didn't fix it...I'm beyond frustrated with DCP!!

If it were me, I'd be calling continually until they did something. If that didn't work, I'd visit in person!!!

Be careful out there.

If it is taking them this long to get it corrected, I wonder how long it will take once damage has been done? Terrible!
